This is our story
How We Started
The name came about from a literal coconut cup that Odian carried around as his cup. His friends often would joke about how he never left his cup regardless of where he went. So it’s safe to say just as how he physically brought that cup with him, He also brought culinary skills with him wherever he went.
We Went Global
In 2021, he hosted an in-house series called ‘In the kitchen’, where he’d feature guests at his home, cooking meals which were posted via IG. He then took things to the next level and started ‘Seafood Saturdays’, where he would cater seafood and much more. Customers would pre-order, and the food would be delivered to them. This escalated quickly and later that summer, we hosted our first fish fry which was completely sold out. After continuous fish fries, we wanted to give our loyal customers an experience. We hosted a backyard event, ‘pon di farm’, called the coconut cup experience. This brought more eyes to the infamous ‘farm’, which then hosted intimate dinners from two up to 20. From that attention yet again, our followers grew, and people would request us to now travel to their homes and create this experience; locally and internationally.
So We Started Growing
The team started with a group of friends, who we’ve known over the years. It became routine for us to work together because we saw the bigger picture. Over time, Odian Began mentoring, which added a few new people to the team who came on, and became like family.
We've Hit New Peaks
Major Milestones for the Coconut Cup would most certainly be the 1 million followers and counting on Instagram and the 400k+ followers on our Tiktok. We were recently featured of the Tamron Hall show which was a great feature in expanding the brand.
Where We Are Going
Short term goals, we will start adding branded products like a knife set, clothing, and limited drops. We also are looking into doing a book to share our story and success of how we started and how we got here. A cookbook is something that we are also looking into. We are also looking to have an event space with a commercial kitchen. Ultimately, We want to take this experience of Jamaican culture and cuisine to everyone unable to go and experience it. We hope to widen our mentorship program, create branded merchandise based on our set ups through an online store as many clients ask for these products. The aim is to get bigger everyday, so the work never stops.
